This collaboration brings together two distinct but complementary improvisers. Alex Izaak Milling’s work, exemplified by his recent album All His Angels, foregrounds vocal multiplicity: layering, disjunction, and resonance are deployed to open spaces where devotional intensity and estrangement coincide. Theo Gowans (Territorial Gobbings) engages in an aesthetics of fragmentation, repurposing sound through interruption, reconfiguration, and unruly juxtaposition. In performance, the duo enact a live negotiation between these practices, using improvised vocalisation as both material and method. The result is less a fixed composition than an unfolding ecology of voice—at once fragile, excessive, and unpredictable.
